I find moments to create in the late evening hours when the the room is still. Under dim light my sketch book battles ‘Kitten’ (my self important cat) for a spot on my lap. I have several sketches to transform into paintings & continue to have these pretty visions of forest fairies and nature deities. I am grateful to have always had a steady flow of ideas to fill my creative brain. It’s one of the great joys of my life.

Spring! Did time speed up? The months pass so quickly and without warning, a year has gone by! I am still busy with work, I’ve been drawing in my journal which sits on my coffee table along with a small watercolour pallet and some ink pens. For now this is keeping my creative mojo alive, allowing the conduit to my artist-spirit energy to flow. I am grateful for every inspiration. Keep it coming Universe!

July 2022
Summer is upon us! I find myself very busy with work after a couple of years of living in the glory of writing and creating. I’m 35000 words into writing my second book, a YA Fantasy Novel, and I eagerly await the time to delve back into this world with full attention.
In the mean time, I read other writer’s work for inspiration, and paint these other-worldly landscapes to fill my creative well. I truly love where these canvas’ take me.
With gratitude ~ xxL

Is it fall already? Writing has taken over most of my time as I embark on SFU’s ‘Writer’s Studio’ program for the next ten months. My latest painting, ‘Pathway to the Spirit World’, took a few months to complete. This type of painting is meditative and gives my mind a creative-shift. I truly love it. I’m excited to get started on the next one!

I’ve been working on these small post-card paintings inspired by my daily nature walks. My reoccurring character, Ms. Star U. Spirit, (U for Universal) is always present. This character is me, but it’s also you- it’s the inner knowing spirit in anyone who’s been moved by a damp, foggy morning or the full, moving lines on a peony bloom.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be in the studio doing larger paintings based on these small idea pallets of colour and theme.
Water colour - Journal sketch
BIG hair! I am a girl of the 80’s after all. ;)
I am obsessed with stars!
I love to watch the slow release of the fiddle heads as they unfurl into luscious, long leafed ferns.
We are all made of stars - Shining bright explosions of light.
Keeping the flow going with these journal sketches!
Adding in the Trillium flowers is what this piece was waiting for!
These wildflowers are a sign that Spring has arrived and I am reminded that we too are always changing. Like the seasons, there is always a familiar thread, but nothing is ever exactly as it was.
Escape to another world, where the tides draw your path and stars bring you light--where magic tells a story, delivering delight.
Every day I walk the forest trails and walk away bursting with images and colours of imagined worlds infused by magical energy and a view into the spiritual realm. For me the forest is alive with inspiration and I am grateful to have it at my side. I hope you are finding hidden joys in your days.
Nature + Me = JOY!
With added free time lately, I’ve been researching my next get away. I’ve always been drawn to the red rock and big skies of Arizona. I’ve never been, but I dream of this place.
This was drawn after a particularly windy, ocean front walk. I live in BC Canada, along Indian Arm where the river meets the sea. Skunk weed wafts a comforting stench, salmon come home to spawn and the tall grasses flow limp on the wind. I Love where I live!
My daily hug awaits with this soaring BIG Maple. I touch the soft moss that covers it’s deeply grooved bark and close my eyes—travelling inside this grand beauty I feel grounded and connected.
This one excites me! I love my home. I take time to infuse this space with grateful energy and love, and in return, I feel safe to speak my truth, weep if I may, and create to my imaginations content. I’ve never really spent much time painting interiors, but after finishing this one, the feeling I was left with insists that I continue on this journey.
After sharing this on Social Media, I received a commission to paint a dear friends home interior, a sign that the Universe agrees. Gotta follow those signs! xx

I often have images flash into my thoughts. Sometimes I write them down, sometimes they just stick at the front of my mind until I do something with them.
This painting was a mixture of these sticky thoughts and some symbols of summer that bring me joy. Clear, starry nights, poppies in bloom, and the ever changing boardwalk landscape that lines Shoreline Park in Port Moody, where I live.

This painting was a stream of consciousness. It's much different than when I first started it. I think it found itself.

Outside of my studio, there is this lovely old tree. It stands on the edges of a plot of cleared land - soon to be industrialized. But it stands firm and strong, rooted to the earth - connected to the moon's light.
My great respect for this tree's dedication to it's true bliss inspired me to give it a gift. A heart, painted from my heart. I really just wanted to stare at it all day - and what better way...
I hope they let it stand here forever.

This was the inspiration for a Children's Chapter book I am in the process of writing.
Estimated date of completion June 2017 - stay tuned!

The city lurks under the canopy of this grand tree - it's leaves digest pieces of the industrial world beneath it. A nest sits on a branch; inside, rests a Cuban postage stamp - ready to fly & meant to be free.

The noise from the city streams overhead, it has it's beauty - but for now, joy is found hovering below this noise - wrapped in the energy of home. Sanctuary.
I heart PM.

~Just before twilight breaks the blue
My sweetest thoughts breeze by
Rolling on the meadow hills
Towards the horizon
Where you wait for me
For the briefest of moments
Before you must light another sky.
16 x 16 inches painted on canvas $300
Waves of shadows shy the sky
But I care not for the coy
I see the bold and the brightest stars
Only
They paint my soul
They are true and everlasting.
All of me, I give to the stars
Forever and always.
‘You saw me’ 10x10x2 - $150
I screamed as loud as I could
screeching colours and beauty
how could you pass me by
are you deaf - i wondered
Are you blind?
But you saw me - we touched
I felt you ~
‘My little bird’ ~ 10x10x2 $ 150
Be still - over there
I cannot hold you
But I am happy to see you
Over there.
I bring my bloom
For you -
please - be still
So I can see you, always.
24 x 24 Acrylic on Canvas
The one from the time I went
to the place - over there
Is missing
From my life.
I went away - and I am over here
Now.
I need, I want
Now I feel.

Nature Vs. Industry Series
Looking for food, a Polar Bear family treks endlessly through new territory. The 'cardboard cut-out' appearance they portray shows they don't belong here. The trees have geometric shapes on them, showing that industry is on the verge of take over and the trees will soon lose there ground.

A prelim Illustration of Little O. He has a heart shaped saddle--good for spreading love as he flutters away, chasing the tickling bubbles.
This is a prelim drawing for my book, 'The BIG Adventures of Little O'. Lutris is a curious otter who helps Little O look for food.
The great blue heron. Another prelim look at Ardia, a heron who helps Little O get untangled.
