My first anthology! I’m so proud to be part of this amazing group of poets and writers who filled the pages of Don’t Tell - family secrets.
Here’s what the The British Columbia Review had to say:
When family secrets are revealed, the long-suffering bearers of them, even if they’ve passed on, can take a deep breath so that a collective, healing sigh can be felt through the generations. read more
BOOK REVIEW by -Tanis MacDonald, Professor, Department of English and Film Studies, Wilfrid Laurier University, and author of seven books, including Straggle: Adventures in Walking While Female
Don’t Tell not only spills the tea about family secrets; it also delves into the conditions of their endurance in old letters and faded photos, and their revelations via DNA testing, slips of the tongue, and uncomfortable silences. This collection reminds us of the lengths families go to maintain silence, safety, or respectability, and of the courage of those who reach into that dark rain barrel of the past and draw up the truth, dripping and wriggling, into the present day. If you’ve ever discovered – or been – the family secret, Don’t Tell is the book for you.
Amazon Review: TREVOR A. Reviewed in Canada on February 14, 2023
This journey of Little O’s is great for reading to younger children. Starting as a young orca that cannot fish very well on his own, Little O travels the BC coast learning and growing himself, and his connection to nature, as he goes. The detailed illustrations and encounters with other creatures help make the story colourful and light even as Little O undertakes his serious quest to find the salmon and reunite with his mother and the rest of their pod. We especially liked the moonlit encounter with Ruby and her dog Hector.

My 10-year-old son and I loved The Big Adventures of Little O. He looked forward to reading it every night and has asked me to ask the author create a sequel with more of the adventures starring some of Little O's friends. The artwork is beautiful and it has a great message about caring for our earth and its creatures- very enjoyable for both kids and adults!
